Notes and Observations:
- Size and Prep ALL Dry Fly Hackle Before Tying!
- Be Weary of Elk/Deer Hair that contains Broken/Damaged Hair. It is a pain.
- Practice, Practice, Practice.

Looking good man– you’re a tying fool!
A lot of time and a lot of quality there. Nice.
Thanks guys, it was my intention to have these tied over the fall/winter but didn’t get around to it. The July/September terrestrial/big fly/hopper season has motivated me to get the job taken care of. 4 dozen in three colors in #12 and #14. I’m a bit better with hackle and deer hair now.
what hook did you use for these flies?
I used a Mustad C53S in size 12 and 14. This is a 3x long nymph hook, strong but still floats with the amount of hair and feather needed for this pattern. Good luck!
